Campaign 1: Priyadarshini School for the Deaf and Dumb, Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India

Number of Students: 130

I have been working with the CRC Adopt-A-School program to raise money for the Priyadarshini School for the Deaf and Dumb, based in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India. As their name suggests, the hostel works with underprivileged students who cannot speak or hear and therefore need specialized instruction. However, it only has five dedicated teachers working with 130 students in every grade from LKG to 12th. It also houses and feeds these students year-round and yet receives minimal government funding.

These students do not have uniforms, blackboards, even pencils to write with – simple everyday things that we take for granted in our own classrooms. Unlike other hostels in India, they do not have an inverter to ensure their education is not interrupted several times a day by power cuts. I am looking to raise money so we can provide the hostel with these essentials: uniforms, blackboards, an inverter, laminated posters, basic stationery, etc.

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and will help the school receive the resources they need to provide these underprivileged students with the education they deserve. 100% of the donations will go towards helping the hostel.

Campaign2: Nirmala Heart Seniors Living home, Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India

As you may have heard, last year I worked with the CRC Adopt-A-School program to raise money for the Priyadarshini School for the Deaf and Dumb, based in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India. This establishment is also housing homeless people and senior citizens that don’t have a family to take care of them, free of charge. They are now in need of bed covers, clothes, water filters, air coolers and other basic necessities to help keep its residents comfortable during the hot summer months in India.

Also, some of the students that have passed the tenth class at the Priyadarshini School are interested in joining the Intermediate school but have no way of paying for it. We are creating an education fund to deposit in a bank, so we can use the interest we receive from it to sponsor the higher education of these deserving students.

Donating is not mandatory, but any and all donations are greatly appreciated and will help this organization continue to do good for its community. 100% of the donations will go towards helping the hostel.

    13. E-Waste: Dark Side of Digital Age >> These days, it's often cheaper and more convenient to buy a new PC than to upgrade an old one. But what happens to those old computers once they've been abandoned for newer models? The refuse from discarded electronics products, also known as e-waste, often ends up in landfills or incinerators instead of being recycled. And that means toxic substances like lead, cadmium and mercury that are commonly used in these products can contaminate the land, water and air.
