Education: Sophomore at Wayne State University, Michigan, USA

About me:

  • Hello, my name is Anand Jampana and I am a Sophomore at Wayne State University. I have lived in Michigan my whole life and grown up in Canton. I am a pre-med student majoring in public health. My goal is to one day become a cardiologist. I love helping others out and being a cardiologist would allow me to do this full time. I have always liked the sciences and especially had interest in the cardiovascular system. This interest of mine has taken me on many different adventures.

  • One adventure was when I volunteered at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Ann Arbor. Here I worked with workers compensation and the in-house physician. I learned a lot about the medical environment and the day to day life of a doctor. I got to learn about blood pressure and EKGs, as well as observe some physician sessions. Another adventure was when I volunteered at HOPE Nursing Home. This is a place where patients would reside when certain medical conditions became too cumbersome to handle alone. Every month we set up and played bingo with them, so they could forget about their problems, and have some fun.

  • I learned a lot from these days. Talking with patients really inspired me to pursue a career in the health field and try to make a difference. Besides from medical related things, I have also volunteered in other areas. I was a student teacher for an algebra/ geometry tutoring class in a school known as Cafe MI. This helped with my own math skills as well as learning about the struggles of teaching. One of my largest hobbies is photography. I have been shooting for about 5 years. I have taken pictures at events such as TANA which is the Telugu Association of North America, as well as friend’s functions such as grad parties, and weddings.

  • I plan to continue my journey to become a cardiologist by continuing my interest in the medical field. I plan on having many more adventures on my road of life. I love helping others and making a difference in people's lives. My ultimate goal in life is to make the biggest impact that i can on the people around me and continue helping out for as long as the world allows me.
  • My Service Project:Mother Teresa Polio Foundation; Total Amount Raised-$1000

    13. E-Waste: Dark Side of Digital Age >> These days, it's often cheaper and more convenient to buy a new PC than to upgrade an old one. But what happens to those old computers once they've been abandoned for newer models? The refuse from discarded electronics products, also known as e-waste, often ends up in landfills or incinerators instead of being recycled. And that means toxic substances like lead, cadmium and mercury that are commonly used in these products can contaminate the land, water and air.
